The proverbist issues a clear call for Christians. This teaching provides the most effective paradigm for daily living and decision making.
We have a clear message about God's love and his intervention into history to re-establish the relationship humankind severed.
One can easily find more ways to engage in the Christian mission than life or resources can fulfill. So, we carefully invest each day where we are. We remain open to assist others and to move forward to serve in other ways and other places. Here are a few alternatives.
As a child, in Ft. Wayne and living with my grandparents, worship, church and parochial school became the foundation of life and learning. Then, another dozen years on the farm and participation in a rural church built on that foundation. Today, you find us in a large congregation (Our Saviour's Lutheran Church) in Naperville, IL. We live amidst booming residential development. A growing population requires new congregations, attuned to their needs while rooted in worldwide church Jesus introduced. Just south of our home, you'll find the once sleepy village of Plainfield. Growth and change swirl around Plainfield. In that setting, Pastor John and Dorann Bradford accepted the call to create a new congregation. It's the fastest growing mission congregation in the ELCA! Let's follow their progress. When you have looked at all this information, what will you do? Yawn? Surf on? I hope you'll do more that that. I hope you will get involved in the Christian life, learn and grow through Bible Study and engage wholeheartedly in mission. Let me know if I can help you.
